Cappa & Graham has made a firm commitment to meet the highest standards in regards to the environment, conservation and corporate responsibility, and that commitment was rewarded on August 7, 2008, when we became the first Meeting, Event and Destination Services Company in North America to receive an internationally recognized Green Accreditation from Green Certifications (www.greencertifications.com). Then, on September 24, 2008, we received our local Green Certification from the San Francisco Green Business Program (www.SFgreenbiz.org). We take pride in leading a notoriously environmentally unfriendly industry in a more sustainable direction, towards a future that is environmentally friendly.
Linda Thompson took the beginning steps to lead Cappa & Graham towards Green Certification, but our entire staff has embraced and
supported that goal through unexplainable time delays and policy revisions, implementing new policies, purchasing new
products, digging up old receipts, scanning product packaging, sourcing new vendors, and discussing environmental issues with old partners.
All of us took thoughtful efforts towards learning San Francisco waste management policies, handling the occasional smell and fruit fly from our lovely compost, accepting and utilizing poo-poo paper, shutting down computers every night, and turning off the lights and other electronic equipment whenever possible.
We are dedicated to continually expanding our network of green vendors and becoming educators to our clients. Our clients need to know that the tap water in San Francisco is glorious; or that we can provide pitchers and glassware at their meeting or event; that plastic wrapping is not compostable or recyclable and that we can use tissue paper or bioplastic (plant based) wrap that can easily do the same job and be composted instead of thrown in a landfill.
While celebration of our Green Certification is essential, both Green Certifications and the San Francisco Green Business Program expect Cappa & Graham to continuously maintain and improve its environmental performance. We recognize that Green is not an obscure, niche issue that would ever be seen as separate from anything else that we do. We are determined to aim high and constantly improve, recognizing that Green will continue to be pertinent in our work. We will continue to identify, monitor and improve all aspects of environmental sustainability on an ongoing basis.
The corporate world is and will continue to seek guidance in regards to environmental issues. As a service provider that shares their concern for the environment and has the competence and resources to manage environmental issues, Cappa & Graham will strengthen its partnerships and become an enthusiastic environmental educator. We take heart in knowing that our efforts lead to tangible benefits for our planet!
